Michigan is Home to the Tallest Living Domestic Cat, According to Guinness

In the 2023 Guinness Book of World Records, a cat named Fenrir is featured as the tallest living domestic cat in the entire world. The Savannah cat who lives in Michigan measured 47.83 cm (18.83 in) in January 2021, which is about two inches taller than the average size of his breed. This record was previously held by a cat named Arcturus, who was the brother of Fenrir.

Being the tallest living cat is not the only interesting thing about Fenrir, as it is also a therapy cat at the doctor’s office, whose daily job includes helping calm and ease HIV patients. The owners of Fenrir, Dr. Will Powers of Farmington Hills, Board-certified family physician and HIV specialist. For Dr. Powers, who used to be the President of the Ferndale Cat Shelter, Fenrir was not the only record-holding cat he owns. In fact, Altair Cygnus Powers, another cat of his, is the living domestic cat with the longest tail, according to Guinness World Records.
